What does insurance usually cover?
Rental vehicles are generally covered by liability and comprehensive insurance. In the event of damage, you are usually liable up to the agreed deductible, not for the full value of the vehicle. The scope that applies is stated in the provider's offer.
- Typical exclusions: gross negligence, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, trips outside the agreed area, wrong fuel
- Typically covered: ordinary traffic accidents and third-party fault, theft where due care can be shown
Can the deposit be reduced?
Some providers offer a reduction of the deductible for an extra charge. Ask about it directly when you send your inquiry.
